Five Tips for Personal Branding Outfits

OUTFIT IDEAS FOR YOUR PERSONAL BRANDING SHOOT

Picking out clothes for your personal branding shoot can feel both daunting and exciting at the same time. There’s a lot to think about as you prep, but once you get started, it’s so fun!

One of my favorite places to shop for clothes is White House Black Market. I’m not affiliated with them, so this is not an ad; I legit love their clothes. Tops, bottoms, skirts, and dresses are cut, shaped, and designed to drape nicely along your body. Their pieces all work together seamlessly, so it’s really easy to create several outfits out of a handful of items. I also love that you can dress up, or dress down a look by changing jewelry or switching from a pair of jeans into a skirt.

FIVE TIPS FOR PERSONAL BRANDING OUTFITS:

  1. Form fitting vs. flowy. Form fitting pieces photograph better than flowing pieces. This applies to all body types; form fitting pieces highlight your curves, whereas flowing tops and dresses tend to make one look a bit fuller in photos.
  2. Add a cute jacket. We all have something we’re not happy with, or are self-conscious of, and one complaint I hear from women time and again is, “I don’t like my arms.” If this you and you’ve fallen in love with a sleeveless top, there’s a quick solution, add a cute jacket to your ensemble—it also adds a pop of color to the look. Make sure the jacket is waist length or form fitted at the waist.
  3. Match your brand colors. Select colors to match your brand to create a cohesive look across your website and social media platforms.
  4. Solids vs. patterns. Solid colors work best for photos. Subtle designs in skirts, shorts, or pants, as in the photos included here, paired with a solid top work great too. The idea is to make sure you are the main subject. If the pattern is too bold it tends to be distracting.
  5. Jewelry. I recommend keeping it simple when it comes to accessorizing. The goal is to add a finishing touch without going overboard. Again, you are the main subject and those chunky necklaces tend to get a bit distracting.
